Here in Carson City, the Humane Society has a program that allows us to rehabilitate shelter dogs. We give the dogs a chance at a better life by teaching the obedience and appropriate social skills. Being able to work with dogs is such a rewarding experience. I have been in the program almost four years now and it never gets old watching a dog go from out of control to a well-behaved companion. Knowing that I helped give them a second chance.
Along with training dogs, I am also an instructor in a Culinary Arts program, teaching the basics of cooking. Watching the students go from not being able to boil an egg to whipping up an eggs Benedict breakfast is amazing. I also specialize in baking pies, cakes and cookies. I would be happy to share recipes with you. I love to try new dishes.
Another thing I make time for is a five day a week workout routine at the weight pile. I worked construction most of my life and never had to lift weights to stay in shape so this is a new experience.
