Jeffrey Fields's Poetry

  • It's Been A While

    All the world’s a stage

    But not when you are locked up in my cage.

    Alive and forgotten!

    I often feel empty and downtrodden.

    A faint light still glows,

    Some distant memory uploads.

    The past and present conjugate;

    Inescapable, they only humiliate.

    Trying to forget what could have been;

    Regretting how Bed Lam was our master then.

    What you did was so cruel!

    Why did you ignore the golden rule?

    Isolated and all alone;

    My heart wants to turn to stone.

    You vanished without a trace;

    Did it bring you solace?

    Remember the movie Titanic?

    Wasn’t it oh so romantic?

    But what a tragic, painful end when the Titanic went down;

    Especially when Rose had to let go of Jack and watch him drown.
